Biblical tours in Greece and early Christianity sites have gained popularity in recent years, as more and more travelers mainly from U.S.A express interest in exploring the true history and significance of Christianity in its early years. Here are the Saint Paul related sites to visit in this region:
Kavala
After Saint Paul received the vision of the Macedonian call in Troas Timothy, Silas, and Luke joined him, so they set sail to the region of Macedonia. Saint Paul first landed in Neapolis, a small seaside village located on a natural port thus well protected by severe south winds from Aegean Sea, all year round. From Neapolis, which now called Kavala, Saint Paul and his companions walked approximately 15km to Philippi.
Philippi
Philippi was the first city in Europe where Saint Paul preached the gospel. He established the very first Christian church in Europe and wrote his Epistle to the Philippians. Today, visitors can explore the ruins of the ancient city, including the Agora, the Roman Theater, the Basilica of Saint Paul, and the Lydia Baptismal Site.
