Thessalonica biblical tour
Thessaloniki was another important city for Saint Paul’s missionary journey. He founded two churches here and wrote the two very first epistles to the Thessalonians. Today, visitors can see the Church of Agios Pavlos (Saint Paul’s Cathedral), which built on the site where Saint Paul have preached. The church is home to a beautiful icon of Saint Paul and a relic of his tomb. Also within walking distance we may visit the Saint Paul chapel and the Holy Spring of Saint Paul. Moni Vlatadon or Vlatadon monastery is another Saint Paul related site and definitely a must visit. The monastery is located on the upper part of the city, offering the best panoramic views of the city, Thermaikos gulf and mount Olympus.
Philippi biblical tour
After Saint Paul received the vision of the Macedonian call in Troas Timothy, Silas, and Luke joined him, so they set sail to the region of Macedonia. Saint Paul first landed in Neapolis, a small seaside village located on a natural port thus well protected by severe south winds from Aegean Sea, all year round. From Neapolis, which now called Kavala, Saint Paul and his companions walked approximately 15km to Philippi.
Philippi was the first city in Europe where Saint Paul preached the gospel. He established the very first Christian church in Europe and wrote his Epistle to the Philippians. Today, visitors can explore the ruins of the ancient city, including the Agora, the Roman Theater, the Basilica of Saint Paul, and the Lydia Baptismal Site. For more info, please click here
Berea biblical tour
Veria or Berea was the third important Macedonian city for Saint Paul in Northern Greece. He preached there and converted many locals (both Greeks and Jews) to Christianity. Today, pilgrims may explore the ruins of the ancient city, including the Agora, the Bema of Saint Paul and the old Jewish Synagogue.
The Bema or Altar is a raised platform where Saint Paul believed to have preached. The Apostle of the Nations was warmly welcomed since his first visit and his preaching had a great impact on Greeks and the Jews. Saint Paul’s passage through Berea or Veria and the impact of his preaching, indicates the significance of this Macedonian town at the first steps of early Christianity.
