As our drive will take us about an hour to Pella, we make a quick stop for coffee and beverages. Plenty of commentary on Alexander’s adventurous life along the way and photo stops when required. Our very first stop is Pella, the ancient capital city of Macedonian Empire and visit the archaeological site and the museum. We visit the archaeological museum and site discovering plenty of information on Macedonian glory and everyday life as well.
We head to Mieza Nymfeon, a historical location of great natural beauty where Aristotle’s school was located. The most famous student of Aristotle the great philosopher was surely Alexander the Great. He spend 3 years at this mystical location, getting high-level education by his teacher on Mathematics, Philosophy, History and Geography.
We then proceed to Vergina, the most significant archaeological site of Northern Greece. We visit the royal tombs of King Phillip the 2nd, father of Alexander and other tumulus. We also visit the newly built museum and admire the legacy and wealth of Macedonian Kingdome. Free time available for coffee or a quick snack.
Plenty of photo stops at breath taking views of Macedonian plains. Round late noon, we start our way back to Thessaloniki.
